Cerebral Palsy: An Increasing Health Problem

Despite advances in medical care, cerebral palsy remains a significant health problem. As many as 1 million people of all ages are affected, and that number has increased over time.

Cerebral palsy is an umbrella term for a group of disorders affecting body movement, balance, and posture caused by abnormal development or damage in one or more parts of the brain that control muscle tone and motor activity (movement).

Most children with cerebral palsy require significant medical and physical care, including physical, occupational, and speech/swallowing therapy.

There is no cure for cerebral palsy. With early and ongoing treatment,  the disabilities associated with cerebral palsy can be reduced, but the therapy regimen for a specific individual with cerebral palsy should be tailored to meet the needs of that individual.

Care for people with cerebral palsy is complicated, requiring a number of different services and specialists, and can be very expensive.
Learn more about the causes, symptoms and prevention of cerebral palsy.

While the symptoms and treatment options for cerebral palsy are important, so is determining if the cause of cerebral palsy was due to malpractice. Many states provide a short limitation on how long an investigation into whether malpractice occurred, therefore it is important to call an attorney experienced in this diagnosis quickly.

If anyone in your family or any friends have a child with cerebral palsy please call immediately for a free consultation. Our attorneys will provide you and your family with a free, no-obligation case review.
