Annual Physical “Meaningless” for Healthy People

New research concludes that there is little benefit for annual physical exams when it comes to healthy people.

A study analyzing  information from 183,000 people in the U.S. and Europe showed patients who received routine health checks were just as likely to die over a nine-year period compared with those who did not receive health checks.

Eliminating annual physicals, including colonoscopies and mammograms, would also save money partly because it would reduce unnecessary testing, according to Campos-Outcalt.
