Defective medical devices out on the market
Crandall & Pera Law has experience in the area of medical product liability litigation. Some of the more common cases we see involve:
- Bladder slings
- DePuy hip and knee replacements
- INFUSE bone grafts
- Mirena IUDs
- Power morcellators
- Stryker hip replacements
- Transvaginal mesh
- Zimmer hip and knee replacements
Some of these devices failed to go through testing for a new use; for example, the material in transvaginal mesh works well in its original usage for hernias, but can corrode when used for a prolapsed uterus. Other devices, such as certain product lines manufactured by Stryker, were not required to go through testing because a similar product made by the same company was already on the market. Still other products were successful in their intended use, but caused serious complications in other ways; power morcellators, for example, can destroy uterine fibroids, but can also spread cancerous cells throughout the body if the cancer could not be detected before the use of the device.
Why choose Crandall & Pera Law?
When clients seek our help, we investigate how and why an injury occurred or a condition was exacerbated. Our on-staff registered nurses work hand in hand with our attorneys as well as outside medical sources to determine the extent of the damage a patient has sustained, and to help build a case for liability. If we find that the evidence points to a defective device, we can speak to you about a lawsuit. We do not apply a one-size-fits-all approach to the law, and we only settle a case when the outcome is right for our clients.
