Reasons to Call Crandall & Pera Law, Part One If the delivery of your dreams has turned into a nightmare, you should call Crandall & Pera so that we can evaluate the medical records. Some of the things to look for are rather obvious. If your baby is born blue, limp, or requires resuscitation – or intubation, where they stick a tube down your baby's throat to help him or her breathe. Some of the others are not so subtle. There's an acronym called APGAR scores. It's scores that care providers take of your baby to see if they're healthy or not. Zero is bad and 10 is good. If you ask and hear that your baby's APGAR scores were very low, for example, anything between zero or five, you should contact us afterwords for an evaluation. If your baby unfortunately has a seizure, or has to have brain studies done – like CTs or MRIs – because the care providers are worried about the brain activity of your child, that's also another reason that you should call Crandall & Pera so that we can investigate your medical records.

What conditions could cause these types of injuries?

There are a number of conditions that could lead to these issues. A blueish tint could indicate oxygen deprivation or cord compression, both of which can prove fatal if they’re not handled quickly. Limpness could indicate a birth trauma, an undiagnosed genetic disorder, or another problem. Low APGAR scores often indicate respiratory or cardiac distress. If any of these signs are ignored, you could have a claim for medical malpractice. To learn more about when you might need a birth injury lawyer, please see Part Two. Related Articles:
