Insurance Company Hassles Result in Cash Only Doctors

Physicians who are feeling the weight of insurance reimbursements have been forced to make many changes in their practices, including becoming cash only, according to The New York Times.

This route, often called "concierge medicine," usually results for three reasons: to preserve the doctors' incomes, to avoid the administrative hassles of insurance and to provide better care.

"The current model for primary care is broken," said Dr. David Edelson, who runs a five doctor practice in Great Neck, N.Y. "Either I can go down with the ship, sell my practice to a hospital or take my practice in the wrong direction. Or I can develop a better mousetrap, which is more time dealing with patients and their care." Read the complete details here:

Dealing With Doctors Who Take Only Cash

Steve Crandall, a top-rated medical malpractice attorney throughout Ohio and Kentucky, says concierge medicine is just one route physicians take to combat insurance reimbursements.

"Many others increase the volume of patients to make more money," said Crandall, "which leads to malpractice, wrongful death and cases of birth trauma as a result."
