Steve Crandall to Speak about Social Media’s Effects on Juries at the Annual OAJ Convention on May 4th

The Ohio Association of Justice, or OAJ, holds a convention every Spring in Columbus. This year, we are proud to announce that firm co-founder Steve Crandall has been asked to speak at the convention. His presentation, titled “Social Media and its Effects on Jury Selections and Verdicts,” will be given during the Medical Malpractice portion of the seminar.

The OAJ was founded in 1954. Originally a part of the Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Claimants’ Counsel, its original mission was to educate attorneys who represented injured workers. Over the years, the organization has had many names – but its most impressive history was made by its members, who fought to uphold justice for all people in Ohio:

  • Brunets v. City of Columbus made sure women could be fire fighters.
  • Blankenship v. Cincinnati Milicron Chemicals Inc. ensured that workers could sue when their employers put them in harm’s way.
  • Griffith v. Mt. Carmel East mandated that trauma victims be taken to hospitals and facilities with the ability to properly care for them.

Today, the OAJ’s mission for its members is “to advance your client’s rights at the Statehouse, at the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and before the Ohio Supreme Court. OAJ is constantly vigilant and responds aggressively to any threat that would negatively impact your practice or the rights of Ohioans to have their disputes resolved by a jury.”

Upholding the mission of the OAJ every day

Steve Crandall is a proud and active member of the OAJ, which fights on behalf of injury victims in Ohio and Kentucky every day. An award-winning trial attorney, Steve practices at the state and federal level, and understands that sometimes the fight to secure a client’s future can become a precedent for how the law is practiced. He is also a popular speaker, offering in-depth and interesting perspectives on issues that affect plaintiffs’ attorneys on a day-to-day basis. Some of his more notable lectures include:

  • “Focus Groups in Ohio” for Ohio Association of Justice Spring Convention, 2016
  • End Distracted Driving, various schools in Northeast Ohio for, 2015
  • “Expert Witness Presentation at Trial,” annual convention of the Ohio State Bar, 2013
  • “Medical Malpractice Trial Tactics” for Cleveland Marshall School of Law, 2011
  • Annual Winter Conference on Clinical Issues in OB/GYN, 2008
  • Annual National Conference on Fetal Monitoring, 2005-2007

All of us at Crandall & Pera Law wish Steve well for his latest presentation.
